Critical Care

Do you know who to call in the event of a pet emergency?

As a loving pet parent, you never want to see your furry family member in distress. Unfortunately, unexpected illnesses and sudden accidents can occur at any time. The way you handle these types of situations can make all the difference in the world for your loved one. At Taylorsville Veterinary Clinic, we want you to know that you’ve got a dedicated team in your corner. You can rest easy knowing that we’ll be there for you in your time of need.

Our hospital is equipped to provide life-saving critical care at a moment’s notice. With staff members who are experienced in emergency medicine, we can quickly diagnose the problem and deliver the most timely and effective care. Most importantly, we will handle your companion’s case with the utmost compassion, doing everything within our power to achieve a positive outcome.

Some of the signs that your pet may require urgent medical attention include:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Ingestion of a foreign object or toxic substance
  • Broken bones
  • Cuts, lacerations or puncture wounds
  • Vomiting or diarrhea lasting longer than 24 hours
  • Bleeding
  • Trauma, such as a fall or being hit by a car
  • Swollen or tender abdomen
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Lameness
  • Disorientation
  • Foaming at the mouth
  • Convulsions/seizures
  • Loss of consciousness

If you notice your companion exhibiting any of these signs, it’s time to call for help right away. At Taylorsville Veterinary Clinic, we always recommend calling ahead when an emergency occurs. This allows us to evaluate the situation and provide first aid instructions over the phone. It also lets us prepare the hospital and other team members for your pet’s arrival. Of course, should the nature of your pet’s emergency not allow time for a phone call, don’t hesitate to come directly in for immediate attention.

We sincerely hope you never experience the need for urgent veterinary care. If you do, however, we want you to know who to call. The team at Taylorsville Veterinary Clinic will be here to provide the highest level of care available. In the event that further care is necessary, we are able to make appropriate recommendations for specialized care. You can count on us!

We have been using Taylorsville Vet Clinic for over 13 years and they are the best! They took care of our first Golden Retriever for 11 years. They always gave us sound, professional advise and guidance as we maneuvered through, Lymes disease, Hypothyrodism, Arthritis and finally, with great sensitivity, cancer and the final decision to have our girl put to sleep. We now have a new Golden and they have already had to deal with a life-threatening situation with her! Once again, Dr. Sutton has clearly explained our options and helped us make the best decision for our dog. I appreciate that they treat me with respect as a pet owner by giving me all the options available, from conservative to more preemptive/proactive approach- never judging my final decision. As long as I have a pet, I will be taking them to Taylorsville Vet Clinic and I will recommend them to anyone with confidence.

I started taking my dog here in 2017 and they have always been amazing.... we had two emergency situations and we're seen right away , the girls are so good with my bolder who has epilepsy, is always nervous and is a dashchund need I say more lol.... Dr. Lucas is great with him and started treatment which reduced his seizures to almost none and they always try to be fair in pricing since bolders care requires bloodwork and meds for life. thank you very much for all you do for our bolder boo

Dr Megan Bray is amazing. She has seen our Bella during her entire battle with ectopic ureter and then chronic kidney failure. Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to Bella about 2 weeks ago and despite how difficult the experience was she was very empathetic and just as sad to say goodbye. We are proud to call her our vet and always recommend her and the entire team to others.
