Spoil Your Dog Day

August 1 2020

August 10th is Spoil Your Dog Day! Of course, if it were up to Fido, every day would be Spoil Your Dog Day. Regardless, our canine pals definitely do deserve to be pampered a bit. A Mt. Airy, MD vet offers some tips on how to do that in this article.

Toys

Dogs are always cute, but they really are never more adorable than when they’re feeling playful. Pick up some new playthings for Fido! You can go with classic doggy playthings, like tennis balls and rope toys. Or, try something more modern, like a tennis ball launcher or an automated laser pointer.

Treats

It’s probably no surprise to find that special treats are at the top of this list. If Fido were able to list his favorite things, yummy snacks would definitely rank pretty high! Store-bought options are fine, but you can also try making your canine buddy something. Look online for great recipes. Just be sure to stick with pet-safe ingredients.

New Digs

Does your pup have a yard to patrol? If so, why not get him a doghouse? Dogs love having their own little hangouts. You can also get your furry buddy a kiddie pool or sprinkler to splash around in. If Fido likes to dig, get him a sandbox.

Pupscription Box

Want to keep that tail wagging all year? Get your pooch a pupscription box! Your four-legged friend will regularly get boxes of goodies in the mail. Watching Fido get excited over his package is bound to put a smile on your face!

Bath

Fido probably would be less than thrilled to find this option on the list. However, even if your pooch doesn’t like baths, he does enjoy feeling soft and clean after. If it’s nice out, bathe your furry friend outside. Or, book him an appointment at the groomer’s.

Adventures

Dogs haven’t earned the title of Man’s Best Friend for nothing. Fido really wants nothing more than to spend time with his favorite humans. Indulge your faithful friend with a long walk or play session. Then, at the end of the day, wind down with cuddles and belly rubs. Our canine companions are great at reminding us to appreciate the little things in life, like quiet moments spent with beloved pets.
