Things to Do With Your Cat This Summer

June 1 2021

Do you have b ig plans for this summer? As many of the things we wanted to do in 2021 got sidelined, many people are really looking forward to the next few months. As it turns out, our feline friends have a few things on their own agendas. Read on as a local Westminster, MD vet lists some things for you and Fluffy to do this year.

Parasite Control

Fleas and ticks also love the warm weather. These unwanted parasites can carry dangerous diseases. Keep up with your kitty’s parasite control regime!

Sunbathing

We’re not sure why cats love lounging in sunbeams so much. Fluffy doesn’t actually run on solar power. However, she does enjoy charging her ‘catteries’ by dozing off in warm, sunny spots. Enjoy some down time with your furry buddy, and join your kitty for a nap.

Reading

The sun won’t shine all the time. When one of those dreary, rainy days comes along, curl up in your favorite nook with a good book or movie. We’re pretty sure your furball will be more than happy to join you!

Gardening

Our feline pals usually live pretty charmed lives, and they actually are grateful for that. Don’t be surprised if Fluffy tries to repay you for all the care you offer by lending you a helping paw when it’s time to care for your houseplants. Offer your furball a small pot of catnip or catgrass, and see to the rest yourself. You can also get some plants for her to sniff at and nibble on. Just take care to stick with non-toxic options. The ASPCA is a great resource for this. Check out their website here for suggestions.

Photo Shoot

There’s no such thing as a bad picture of a cat relaxing on a summer day. Take some cute photos of your furry bff. Put some bright flowers behind her, or snap her picture against a pretty sunset. Use apps and editing effects to really make your favorite pictures look great.

Take Tim e To Play

No matter how old your feline buddy is, she’ll likely still enjoy pouncing on catnip mice or chasing the dot from a laser pointer. Make kitty playtime part of your daily routine!
